An apology, and an update…

I’m sorry that I did not post the prayers for the last three days of the novena. I hope you still prayed it, though! Things at work got more involved than I anticipated, and etc.

As for the update, I invite you to head over to One Peter Five to read my latest contribution there. It is titled, “An Encyclical of Guesstures: Making Sense of Pope Francis’s Pastoral Aims“. In it I discuss how a recent novelty at a papal audience is but a tile in the larger mosaic that is Pope Francis’s “creative” vision for the Church as bearer of the Good News. Suffice to say it’s all a bit… peculiar.

  1. Those pressing for a change in Communion for the divorced and remarried and identifying the (putative) gifts of sodomy have such a singular focus and devotion to their agenda that, by comparison, they make Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glen Ross seem a mere shadow of Mister Rogers.

  2. Danielius says:

Reading the piece I randomly remembered the football/soccer game for peace. Remember that? Ha. Ha. Alice in Wonderland. However, I expect a double down. Charity Ball for No Beheadings? A Vatican conference with the title “A Denial of The Trinity Does Not Necessarily Entail the Denial of the Trinity”? So so many possibilities with the Bureau of Surprises!

  3. Your enthusiasm is duly noted and will be rewarded at the next Synod for Marginalized Porn Actors Guild.

maybe he’s taking a lesson from The Republican Playbook on Prolifers ™. You know, empty gestures that look good but don’t actually change things officially. He can buy cheap popularity that way. It’s a possibility anyway.

  5. Socrates says:

Hey, I just want to thank you for your “Eastern Papist” article! It has been very helpful to me. Sorry if this comment is off topic.

    Christi pax,

    Socrates

  6. He’s got to hold the neoCath middle. If he goes strong on some hardcore things at the right times, he can carry on with his larger agenda of perpetual “discernment” and ecumenical synodality. So… yes.

Be kind, be (relatively) brief, be clear...
