“Jesus is the specific instance of human nature which the Logos united Himself with in order to reconcile all human nature to the divine nature. His ongoing ‘prayers’ for us are simply His abiding presence in the Father’s sight which, by virtue of the hypostatic union, in His own flesh and blood, testifies on an ontological plane that humanity has been restored to its divine telos. After being mystically united with Christ’s death and reborn in Baptism, it is by receiving Communion that we literally imbibe the life of Christ, in our own bodies and souls, and thus further unify ourselves to Him. His ongoing intercession (Heb 7:25) ensures, on an ontological plane, that humanity enjoys a perfect harmony and bliss with the Father; He is a living testimony, on humanity’s behalf, to the Father’s mercy, seen by the light of the Holy Spirit.”
